We have been mainly around August time but have just been in April and have never used any plug ins or even any personal repellant !

It may depend on where about you are but we have stopped in Pernera and spent many nights in Protaras (eating, drinking etc) and not had any real problems with insects (although my wife tends to get bit at least once during the holiday, in the day from something like a sandfly or a midge...)

You can buy the three pin plug repellants in resort, cheaper than what they are in the UK. We went last year in May/June, I was bit twice but friends of ours were mauled. I use Autan gel repllant, the only time I got bit was when I forgot to take it out with us. They are about but I have seen them a lot worse in Spain around thiss time of year!

I use them whenever the weather gets warmer, and I live here. If you have the two pins which I do, you simply put in the three pin socket by pushing in the top pin (on the socket) with something that is not metal. Make sure the socket is turned off and gently push.

I am generally mossie bait but can honestly say Cyprus is the only place I have travelled to where I have not been severely bitten. Take the usual precautions (Autan or similar). I don%26#39;t use plug ins but do tend to spray myself and the bed with Autan before sleeping. More irritating are the sand flies which, although you don%26#39;t feel them at the time, can give a nasty bite and can be very painful. For that reason I would recommend spraying ankles and, surprisingly hands and knuckles which they aim for, during the day.

We%26#39;ve never had problems with Mozzies in Cyprus not had to use any form of repellent on us or kids, wouldn%26#39;t recommend pushing things into plug sockets though, you can just use a electric shaver adapter plug as an adapter.

Yes, you are right, bad advise from a budget concious Cypriot.

I%26#39;m glad you admit that as to recommend people to stick things into a 240volt socket is dangerous and stupid as they may put something in and die as a result.

the plug in mosquito machines are inexpensive so OP get a couple and have a nice stay.

Thanks for rubbing it in. Although it is done by the majority it was not wise to advertise on forum.
