We booked our holiday to Cyprus last year before the pound lost its value! Having been to Paphos for about the last ten years - missing out last year - we wondered what the average price of meals out are like now. We love the Cyprus so much and so much looking foreard to going again, but hope the cost of eating out is not going to bankrupt us.

Should not pay any more then €12 for a Meze, if they charge more then that..... walk
Depends also on what Cuisine you prefer which could rise in price such as Italian or Chinese

Thanks. We prefer to eat local food. One of our favourites has been Jo Diner where we would get a 3 course meal for about £8 (cyprus) plus wine. Also for Viva Cyprus and Alelaide for set meals.
|||
Yes the Alelaide is good value

Another one you may want to consider is the Karlina across the road from the Tombs of the Kings. They do a very reasonably priced set three course menu and the food is good quality. I think they were charging 12 Euros last summer.
The Windmill in Kato Paphos also do a set menu for about 14 Euros and the food is nice.

We like the Laterna Tavern, just off Bar Street. Always a welcome and some of the best Cypriot cooking we%26#39;ve come across in Cyprus. Check it out at:

I have a sneaking feeling you might be ok this year. I think most involved in the tourist industry are starting to realise the Brits are having in tough and the Euro rate does not help. Alot of tourists seem to be plumping for AI which is having an adverse effect on local business.
Bookings are well down on this time last year and casual jobs in the industry are virtually non existent. So in short I honestly think businesses will have to lower prices to attract passing trade or they will suffer. Now the downside of lack of business in Cyprus sometimes has an adverse affect in terms of priceing, in the past prices have gone up rather than down, hopefully this year we will see the opposite happen. Common sense should prevail in the long run.

hi we are just back from a week in Paphos and found the way the euro is against the pound it was very expensive week for us.
We eat every night in Phivous taverna and had the set menu, which I would highly recommend at €10.
But drinks brought our bill to almost double!!!
So take loads of euros with you.

Hi,
It pays to know the local places.
If you go to the Vasilas kebab place, you can get a mixed kebab with salad for 2.50-3euros. You will be easily full up. You are also given salad stuff and a boiled potato with olive oil, vinegar and parsley on it. All inclusive. You just have to ask. This place is full of locals. Hence the cheap costs.
If you go to Penguino cafe which is on the road going towards the harbour, and you order kebab there, it is about 5.50euros. The kebab comes with a nice salad, tzatziki sauce, chips and pitta bread. You%26#39;ll be full up in no time!
Enjoy your holiday! Leah

where exactly is vasilas kebab place? thanks, jim

This is in a non touristy place. It is opposite the fruitarie shop called Gardens of Edem. Take a taxi and ask him to take you to Agapinoros Street and outside Gardens of Edem. The Vasanos place is opposite it.
