Beaches in Larnaca

Hi,

I am going to have holiday in august this year and I%26#39;m planning to travel to Larnaca. Is this a good destination for having a holiday at the sea side?

I mean, are there nice beaches in the city? are this beaches sandy ot stony?

How is the weather in August down there?

thanks

Vlad

Hi Vlad,

The weather in August is very hot and very humid. Expect to sweat a lot. Drinks lots of water and stay in the shade. You%26#39;ll be fine.

Larnaca has a long sandy beach at the seafront. It is not hard to miss!! But the place is not as attractive as they are at Coral Bay beach in Paphos or Fig Bay Beach at Protaras. I would not bother with Larnaca if I were you.

If you want to have a holiday by the seaside, make sure that you have a hotel in Coral Bay, Paphos or in Ayia Napa or Protaras. Protaras has more beautiful beaches.

Elsewhere, they are either not attractive or they are but has stony beaches.

Hope you find this helpful. Leah

Hi Leah,

thanks for your prompt answer.

How far are these beaches from Larnaca? (as my flight will land in Larnaca);

Further, how can these beaches be reached from Larnaca%26#39;s city center. (bus/train..)

Kind Regards

Vlad

BEACHES IN Larnaca just a few minutes walk from town

center the one by the promanade is nearest there is also one past the old fort in mckenzie that is my favorite less packed, it is awesum watching the planes coming in you think they are going to land next to you ,but this one is a 15-20 minute walk from the town,as it is boiling in aug the one on prom maybe the best for you. the meeting pub across the road from the beach do cheap food if you want a nice meal at night try hobos along the sea front

beaware of some of the boat trips, we went on one promising us a cruise from 8 in the morning untill 3 in the afternoon with all you can eat -drink thrown in we were stuck on the boat six hours octopus fishing, no food untill 2 which was octopus-burnt chicken the wine served with it was foul mine went over the side julie

Hi Vlad

Been to Larnaca 3 times, depending where you are staying you could be a short walk to a beach.

Mckenzie beach is sandy, has restaurants and bars close to airport.

Phinikoudes beach is Larnaca towns main beach, and has a range of bars and restaurants on it.

CTO or Dekhelia road beach is the one that is about 3 miles long and has quite a few hotels on it.

All are quite bustling in August, but not that busy you can%26#39;t find room.

If you wnat really quiet i know another.

All sandy

August temps can reach 39c, so plenty of water and shade is a good idea mid day.

The sea is safe and shallow for a way out.

There are no trains in Cyprus. The beaches in Protaras %26amp; Ayia Napa are 40 minutes by taxi. Paphos is too far unless you hire a car - its on the other side of the island to Larnaca. I wouldn%26#39;t particularly choose Larnaca as a seaside destination - Protaras %26amp; Ayia Napa are more seaside places. As the others have said August is extremely hot and unless you can really tolerate the heat and humidity I would think about September instead if you can.

Larnaca is a lovely resort for a holiday. I would stay on the Dhekalia Road which is about 15 minutes away from town on the old bus which goes quite frequently. Look for hotels near Lordos Beach, or Palm Beach Hotel all that stretch has a lovely beach. There are many tavernas near by where you can get a good meal.

Larnaca is a fascinating town with two led walks by CTO guides, one takes you beyond the fort into the arts and crafts area, the other one covers the historial places.

It is an underestimated town where you can still find the %26quot;Old Cyprus%26quot; with warm welcomes and excellent food. They have good theatres as well.

Easy access to the mountains, Nicosia and Lemesos as well as Ayia Napa and Protaras is also an advantage.

Definitely less touristy but with a lot of charm.
