vegetarians

We are staying at an apartment in Tsada, Vikla Village and I would be grateful if anyone can tell me where the best places to eat are for vegetarian food in the area and around Paphos or anywhere else in Sounthern Cyprus. Thanks.

Excellent Meze at Lofou Taverna for vegetarians as well as the more usual meat meze. Lofou is reached from the Erimi turn off the highway then turn right at Ayios Amvrosios, pass by Ayios Therapon and you reach Lofou. It is well signed and the scenery is excellent. Then you can take the road carrying on down to Limassol and take the highway back to Paphos from there.

In Paphos Sunbow near the Paphos Amathus does good vegetarian food.

Thank you, that is really helpful. We will definitely try it, it sounds great.

Please bear in mind that tavernas do cater for vegetarians. You just need to tell them. If you are a fish person, there are fish mezes. You can even select one or the other from the menu.

There is a really good one in Kato Paphos called Fetas Corner. The lonely planet guide book should be talking about it! There is also another one called Myrna Taverna. If you go down the Polis road towards Paphos, look for a sign that says Chlorakas on the right hand side. Take that turning and keep going down that road slowly so that you don%26#39;t miss the taverna. AFter a few minutes you should see it on the right hand side. Great food. The owners make their own halloumi.

That sounds good. Thanks. i do have the Lonely Planet and Rough guide books, but they don%26#39;t have much on veggy options.

We are vegetarians and have no trouble at all finding great food in Cyprus. Our favourites in Paphos are :

Gourmet Taverna - 4 choices of main course eg roasted vegetable tower %26amp; mushroom risotto (approx 45 euro for starters, main courses %26amp; glass of wine for 2)

La Piazza - many choices of italian food with amazing service in a very %26#39;posh%26#39; atmosphere (approx 55 euro for starters, main courses %26amp; glass of wine for two)

Deck - lovely place on the seafront, very popular with locals choices include salads %26amp; veggie burgers (massive portions) price for two main courses %26amp; beers approx 25 euros

We also like Pinguino, Metaxi Mas and Pizza Express (nice live music on Sunday evenings). The veggie all day cooked breakfast at Tea for Two is also nice (4.50 euro).

Out of Paphos we like Seven St Georges at Geriskipou (we had 26 dish veggie meze plus bread, wine, water %26amp; sweets for 50 euro), Stretto in Limassol and Fanous Lebanese restaurant in Nicosia.

If you want any further info or locations (we have GPS coordinates!) please get in touch.

Thanks very much - lots of choice there!

I think you have enough to be going on with but one more if you are in Limassol. The Syrian Club, just at the back of the tourist area. Fantastic veggi meze, by far the best I have had in Cyprus.

You are spoilt for choice re vegetarian food in Cyprus, I don%26#39;t think I have ever come across a place that will not have at least 5 different choices.

My mother has never eaten meat in Cyprus in 67 years and despairs when she comes to the UK or other parts of Europe. Enjoy, and give the beans a try !
