Is it to expensive ?.Should we book over in Paphos ?
Thanks for your time.

It%26#39;s expensive, but worth it IMO. Whoever you book with, you%26#39;ll get the same itinerary, same charter flight. If you do book it in Paphos, check out several agents for prices and then book asap.
If you use the search engine at the top of the page you should get loads of useful info on the trip.

Hi QPR36 we have been to Paphos a few years in a row now and one of the reasons was firstly the weather and secondly that we wanted to find out about booking a trip to egypt. Unfortunatley we did not do it becuase it was soooo expensive! it would have cost us in the region of £300 each!!! for a day trip there and the day was a long long day as you can imagine.
We did meet a couple there who did do the trip but then they were on their honeymoon and was staying in Paphos for 2 weeks, they did have a good time and loved the sites, but be warned they did say that they wouldn%26#39;t go back due to the some of the locals?? kids with guns, and begging and generally they said that they did not feel very safe? (i can%26#39;t judge as i have never been) with this in mind though if you went with a holiday company with rep you should be safe i would have thought? anyway i hope this helps a bit and if you do decide to go i hope you have a fantastic time.
all the best

What%26#39;s this about kids with guns? I have been to Egypt four times now. I have never come across poverty, any stench of the loo (like they do in India) or anybody holding guns!
In Cairo, the security is very strict. Prior to approaching hotels, all vehicles are checked for bombs and some security have sniffer dogs with them. I felt very safe.
If you are going to Egypt, I advise that you stay for a weekend. There are a few things to see in Cairo and the pyramids are always worth it.

Hi,
There most definitely is poverty in the vicinity of Cairo %26amp; some sites that tug at the heart strings, both involving humans %26amp; animals. It%26#39;s still a 3rd world country %26amp; some people are not prepared for what may be seen as they travel from Cairo / Giza to Saqqara, Memphis %26amp; Darshur, for e.g.
Further down the Nile, the more povety you see.
As for kids with guns, never seen them in 7 visits to Cairo %26amp; numerous visits to various parts of Egypt.
Security is tight %26amp; we have traveeled about with plain clothes armed guards, both on foot, around Darshur, Giza %26amp; have had them on board the coach. It just makes us feel safe.

P.S. Children do beg from the perceived rich foreigners; they are mainly beduoin children who look gypsy-like %26amp; poor but when I was there in Feb %26#39;09 there weren%26#39;t as many around the Giza plateau as there had been in April %26#39;08 as the gvt is trying to %26quot;clean up%26quot; the area %26amp; push the hassling vendors away from the attractions. You%26#39;ll find more begging from children the further down the Nile you go. They appreciate pens %26amp; drawing materials too.

Thanks for the info

Hi,
We went on the flight day trip and i can say it was thoroughly worth it. aparently cruising there is very rough. The day trip is long, board plane around 7a.m, not home until about 11p.m. Can%26#39;t rem exactly but close enough. You get to see all the main sites. i%26#39;m a fretful creature as regards minding my valuables, wary of strange people etc. but it was absolutely fine. not a bother. Security on our buses. Let off to stroll markets at night, again fine.
Of course there are some poor people trying to sell items but not many and we weren%26#39;t hassled. I saw no animal cruelty as I%26#39;m obsessed with animals and would have hated this.
The tour guide warned us not to buy cheap knick knacks off the poor people trying to sell stuff as she said it was poor quality etc. Ignore, we bought two fabulous statues for next to nothing. My poor hunny then had to carry them in his rucksack.
I think the tour guides just want you to spend money in the gift shop they take you to.
One thing to be wary of is giving your camera to anyone and I mean anyone even the police. At the pyramids a ploceman offered to take our photo, I being wary would have said no, hubby handed it over, the cheeky beggar then tried to extort money from us to give it back. My hubby managed to get it back but he followed us demanding money, eventually on ignoring him he left us alone!!
I really wouldn%26#39;t like to saty in Egypt particulary if you like your home comforts eventhough they have good hotels. It%26#39;s just very dusty and poor and busy and hot. One day was plenty, we saw and we did alot and it was worth the oney, no question especially if it%26#39;s a once in a lifetime thing!!!!
Also have small money for using washroom facilities, most places no matter how %26#39;crap%26#39; the facilities are have an attendant who expects a tip in exchange for toilet roll and soap.
