Off to Paphos again on June and looking for recommended village tavernas for good food and atmosphere. Have generally eaten in the tourist area in the past we fancy a change. Any help much appreciated

My fave is Costas Taverna in Koloni (B6 Airport Road), its a wooden chalet style building that sells the most wonderful food, not the best setting due to its roadside location but as I said beautiful food.
We also enjoy Georges in Mandria (Past the airport turn for about 2km then turn right signposted Mandria and on the RHS in the village square - very basic, lots of Cypriots eat here, friday night is live music and Klefitico.
For ambience in the summer months we like sitting on the terrace at Melitiza at Tala, slightly fresher than Paphos due to its location and just a beautiful setting - food is good as well.
If you fancy going a little further we also love Kathikas, our recommendations there are Yiannis%26#39;s, Imogens, and Petradaki.
Hope this Helps

Have eaten at Emba taverna on the road from Kissonerga to Chlorakas.
Family taverna with lovely home cooked food.

And two more which I absolutely and highly recommend:
1) Konia Taverna (in Konia village)
2) Fettas Corner (in Palea Pafos/ Old Pafos town)

My all time favourite is Araouzos Tavern in Kathikas. Superb food, great surroundings and excellent hospitality. Reasonable prices too.
Kathikas is between Peyia and Droushia (I think it is) on the road to Polis. You turn right into the village from the Polis road and the tavern is signed and is on the main village road.

I agree. Azourkas Taverna is probably the best in the whole of Kathikas.
The ironic thing... I was once having a Geography lesson years ago and we were learning Agrotourism. The mother who used to run Azourkas Taverna was filmed in the documentary! She sadly has long ago deceased from cancer. Her son and the rest of the family continue to run the restaurant.

Yes one of the things we liked was the fact it was run by a family, the two brothers and the extended family as is the norm in Cyprus!! The atmosphere was great and we actually opted to sit outside and found it cooler with a welcome breeze compared to the stifling heat of Coral Bay of an evening!!

Thanks all for your great suggestions. I will list names of tavernas and try to visit them all during the 2 weeks we are there. Much appreciated.
