Hello,
I am spending 5 days in Cyprus by the end of April. I%26#39;m landing in Larnaca, but I%26#39;m not sure which city to stay in, which beach%26#39;s to go to and which cities to visit.
Can anyone make any recommendations?
I was thinking of staying in Larnaca and renting a scooter and going around to different cities. Is this feasable?
What are the must-see%26#39;s of Cyprus?
Which Beach%26#39;s are the best to relax at?
Are there any farms or vinyards we can visit and eat fresh produce?
I%26#39;m not really into the partying scene, I just want to relax, eat good food, and meet some nice people.
Please help!
Thanks

I am originally from Cyprus and I am sure you will find what you are looking for while there.
It depends on what you are looking for but some recommendations:
I would not hire a scooter to get around the island, within a city this is fine but to travelel from city to city I would suggest a car hire instead.
For beaches I would stay to the south east of the island, some favourites for the white sandy beaches are Fig Tree Bay in Protaras, Nissi Beach in Agia Napa and Konos Beach in Protaras.
Other beaches include; Larnaca: by the main Palm Tree Promenade and at Makenzy beack are also good. Limassol: Ladies mile is the only beach i know to recommend here.
I would make a trip to the mountain region %26quot;Trodos%26quot; and experience the many monstries on there and on the way. On the way there best is to stop off on the way at the many villages for lunch and I am sure you will stumble accross some great local restaurants. (make sure you have suitable dress for entry to the monastries, no shorts or sleeveless tops for men and not strapless tops or short skirts for women. If you do not the worse that will happen is that you will be asked to put on a robe.)
For the vinyards these are around the Pafos region at the foot of the Trodos mountains towards the south west of the Island.
Pafos also has many archielogical sites to visit, Kourion (on the way to Pafos from Limassol), Tombs of the Kings, Petra to Romiou...
Hope this helps
Have a great time

For an out of the way place to relax in, I would suggest Aunt Maria%26#39;s in Lefkara. It is a brand new excellent facility in one of the most charming mountain villages in Cyprus. They offer self catering one bedroom apartments, really nice. The village is only 20 km from Governor%26#39;s beach and less than 50 km from the major towns of Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol. Lefkara by itself is a must see place in Cyprus; From there you will have easy access to the Troodos mountains, and charming out of the way villages. Nearby is the Choirokitia neolithic site, cisrca 7000 bc, the saint Minas convent and the Machairas monastery. Check out their web site www.auntmarias.com.

Personally I prefer the convenience I being near a beach so when I want to it is on my door step. However saying this I have also been on a holiday to Cyprus and stayed in Lefcosia (Nicosa) and the commute to a beach is only 20 - 30 mins anyway.
Personally I would recomend staying in a coastal resort but nothing wrong with staying in a village or other town.

Here%26#39;s one for you. Right on the beach, not surrounded by any hotels, nice gardens, two very good tavernas (fresh fish) and only 20 minutes from Larnaca and Limassol.
Governors beach, very quiet but close to all areas if you need more life. Five minutes from the highway.
