Wedding at Nissi Beach

Hi every1!

I%26#39;m getting married at Nissi Beach nect September.

I havent booked the reception venue yet and have been liasing with marios who has informed me that the rondavel venue is fully booked and i am very disappointed as this is the 1 i wanted. We are considering booking the pelican beach bar but i cant find any info on it anywhere.

If any1 has had there reception there could you plz tell me what it was like as i%26#39;m starting to stress!!!!

I am getting married next June at the Nissi Beach.

Like yourself I also wanted the Rondeval but was informed that it was already booked and this was the beginning of May this year (the tour operator said i didnt need to book it until I got out there!!).

Anyway we have booked the Beach Taverna which apparently is very similar to the Rondeval - have you enquired about this option with Marios!?

I get married in June at the Nissi Beach. Like you I wanted the Rondeval but this was booked, we have however booked the Pelican (this used to be call the Nissi Taverna but changed names in the New Year).

If you look on the website for the hotel they do have one or two photos.

i was a bridesmaid last year! you have to check out sunsetbeach wow marquee on the beach we had a dj {mike} and cypriot dancers we did not leave till 2am in the morning and if the marquee is to big they have an amazing pagoda you will be blown away the sunset over ayia napa was so romantic i was proposed to there and hope to be back in 2009 ask to speak to sue {scouser} will do everything

Yes I am finding myself in a similar situation, I have been waiting for 2009 brochure to come out (17/04/08) and I have just booked my wedding....hurray

On the off chance I sent an email to Marios and he informed me that the dates I wanted for the Rondavel is fully booked. I was too advised that I would not need to worry about this until I was out there. It is a good job I emailed. I am now heart broken as I really wanted that venue. Does anyone have any tips on a venue for my reception meal?

I am getting Married this September and have booked my Reception at The Garden of Eden Restaurant which is a couple of minutes in a taxi from Nissi Beach

I have looked at many but this is the best and they have been a Wedding Reception Venue for msny years and have a great reputation which is why I chose it. I have a privare area away from other Guests and am having a DJ and Cyprus Dancers and I also have a dance area

They have a great website and it has lots of photographs to give you an idea of the Venue so do not worry if you cannot get Nissi there are other options . Their web if you want it is info@thegardenofedencyprus.com. I do have a contact number but have not got it with me sorry

Out of curosity who told about wait til you are there?

The Pelican Bar is a new reception venue at the Nissi and is lovely - similar to the Rondavel. I have booked the Rondavel myself and am gobsmacked that it is already booked out for next year as I only booked mine a few months ago for my wedding in 5 weeks time.

I think there is a picture on the Nissi website of it. Like I say I am getting married in a couple of weeks and will be back with loads of pics so message me!

Things to do in protaras

Can anyone let me know if there are any places of interest in protaras or the nearby ? also we r hiring a car and would like to venture to troodos mountains. R they far away?

I am also from Malta and will be in Cyprus on holiday from June 27th until July 4th. Have been to Cyprus several times, so I can pass on to you a lot of information and suggestions where to go. I also lived in Cyprus as a young boy when my father was stationed there with the RAF 40 years ago. I normally stay in Limassol, because it%26#39;s central to go around the whole island. Where are you staying in Protaras?

Loads of places to hire a car which is a must if you want to see the %26quot;real%26quot; Cyprus. Troodos mountains about a hour away but I really would recommend a 4 x 4 safari to get the best out of the mountain views. will take you into the heart of The Troodos, little villages, monasteries and top of Mount Olympus - safari usually includes a meze lunch - picks up approx 7.30 am and will return you to your hotel approx 4.30 to 5.00. Well worth doing.

Drive to Konnos Bay which is midway between Protaras %26amp; Ayia Napa - lovely bay with beautiful clear turquoise sea - lots of water sports there.

Trip to Derynia to the last house to view Famagusta over the UN buffer zone.

Lots of boat trips which are worth doing.

Not a lot of cultural interest - you will find that on the Paphos side of the island which is a 2 hour drive. Paphos has a stunning coastline right up to the Akamas peninsular.

Lots of lovely beaches in and around Protaras and Ayia Napa. Super water park at Ayia Napa.

The Red Bus Tour which picks up in Protaras and takes you to surrounding villages and up to the %26quot;green line%26quot;.

Take a trip to Paralimni and have coffee in the square and watch the world go by. Lots of little bays to find and explore. Good snorkelling and plenty of dive centres if you fancing taking a dive.

Don%26#39;t bother with the Sunday market at Larnaca - not worth wasting precious holiday time.

A trip to Nicosia is a must - you can now actually cross on foot into the North if you want. Take note Nicosia is always a lot hotter than the coast so plan to go early morning. Lots of historical interest there.

Thanks we are staying at the Iliada beach hotel , hoping that I made a good decision since we have a 3 year old with us so we would like to combine a sea/cultural holiday so that everyone will be happy.Does the red tour bus operate everyday ? and what about Limassol is it worth a visit?

Your hotel is absolutely fine.

The open top red bus runs twice a day, morning %26amp; afternoon each day. Starts in Pernera then picks up Protaras %26amp; Ayia Napa. Your hotel may have brochures. Ours books the trip for us. I would pre book as it has become very popular and if you just turn up you may not get on.

Sorry, forgot to say, whilst others may disagree I think Limassol and the surrounding area is worth a visit. I don%26#39;t know the area very well but I did enjoy it when we went but wouldn%26#39;t choose to stay there for a holiday.

Clo99 - I note you are going early July. It is very very hot in July with little temperature change between day and night. Air conditioning is a must both in your apartment and car and obviously plenty of sunscreen. Have a good time.

dav65, Reason for offering to share info privately was because of limit of space. I have a full programme, 18 pages long with photographs of a recommended week in Cyprus staying at the Ajax Hotel in Limassol. I can send it by e-mail to whoever is interested, but here it comes in brief:

Day 1: Limassol Medieval Fort, Cyprus%26#39; Medieval Museum and Sea Sponges and Sea Shells Exhibition Centre near the Old Port Area. From there on to Kolossi Castle and nearby Cyprus Wine Museuem in the village of Erimi. Close by is Ancient Kurion Theatre. Shopping from shops selling top famous brands from Makarios III Avenue in Limassol.

Day 2: Fasouri %26quot;Watermania%26quot; Waterpark - excellent water park. Half price for locals and if you return to the park within a week, they offer you half price as well.

Day 3: Troodos Mountains is a must. On the way stop at Green Valley Waterfalls in the village of Trimiklini. After reaching the summit of the mountain, go to Kykkos Monastery. It%26#39;s beautiful. Then a stop in Omodhos - one of the most mentioned wine-making villages.

Day 4: Paphos - the whole town is included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and national treasures of world heritage. On the way there, see the British military base of Episkopi and stop at Petra tou Romiou, Aphrodite%26#39;s birth place. The scenery there on the coast is impressive. Other options in Paphos are the Afrodite Water Park, Geroskipou famous for a 10th century St Paraskevi church with 5 domes, and also for the Cyprus Delights, traditional loukoumi sweets. Other recommended stops are the fishing harbour, Sea World Aquarium, Tombs of the Kings and Pafos Bird Park which has different animals and good parrot shows.

Day 5: Nicosia, Lefkara (village famous for lace), and Camel Park in Mazotos, where both adults and kids get the opportunity to feed and go for camel rides.

Day 6: Larnaca, Ayia Napa (has the largest water park called %26quot;Water World%26quot;), Protaras, Paraaalimni, and Dherinia (has good views of the ghost town of Famagusta).

Tip: Entrance to museums and archaelogical sites is free of charge on Sundays.

Car Hire: Best prices and very reliable - Kostas (Tel. 00357 23834044) and George (Tel. 00357 99625141).

Limassol is ideal if one wishes to go around the whole island. Ajax Hotel is 4 star. I got excellent deals in 2005 and 2007, but following refurishment the prices have shot up. Best to find a good bargain from www.travelrepublic.co.uk That%26#39;s where I booked Tsokkos Gardens on HB basis for this year%26#39;s holiday, since we have no intention of going around other than the close vicinity of Protaras.

Red bus tour is fine - only takes about 2 hours. The 4 x 4 safari is a long day and can be quite uncomfortable on the bottom! - converted land rover and unless you manage to get the front seats can be quite cramped in the back and there isn%26#39;t a lot to see from the back until you make the organised stops (which are plentiful). Take cushions or pillows for the girls to sit on and plenty of soft drinks or water. I think the girls would find it very interesting and exciting though particularly if they have a splash in the waterfall (take towels and a pair of long trousers for men and something to cover shoulders for women (these are needed to enter the Kykkos monastery - which incidentally is fabulous. One thing for certain the girls will sleep like tops when they get back to your apartment!

1) Weather very warm now. You can go swimming if you want to!

2) Try the Athena Beach or Athena Royal beach hotel. The almyra is a very child friendly hotel. it has its own creche and playgroup.

There is a traditional cypriot taverna/restaurant aross the road from golden coast hotel its called Mikrolimano Restaurant you should be able to get them on their website.while we were staying at this hotel we saw a few british and cypriot wedding receptions being held at this taverna.Also in Pernera you have The Evandra restaurant.hope this helps and good luck with the wedding

After days of trying to contact the Mikrolimano Taverna, we have finally spoken to them on their mobile number, with abit of a language barrier it wasn%26#39;t the easiest of conversations. They basically said to arrange it all while we are over there, but would like to sort it all before hand prefably. Did you visit there yourselves?

we only went in to taverna for a drink as we were half board at the golden coast and our meals were excellent,but they were very welcoming at the mikrolimano very nice people

they were fab - food amazing and there was entertainment on the night we had our reception

Does any one know if you can go round the Keo factory and if so how much is the entrance fee Thanks

If I am right the Keo Factory is based up just past Tsada, I went up there on a Blanket trip hosted by a couple of Tour Company%26#39;s.

There is a shop there where you can buy the plonk haha am sure it is open to the public as well

We did the Keo Limassol factory trip some years ago.....not only did you get to taste the beer but the wine too!!!! One very enjoyable day!!!!

Thanks for all your information I have just had a reply from the Keo factory to say the tours are from Monday to Friday at 10 o’clock in the morning. The duration of tour is 30 minutes and then they have free wine and beer tasting and no entrance fees .

Can I be really cheeky and ask you to do me a favour when you go to the factory? Can you ask them why they have stopped produced white Bellapais wine? It was my absolute favourite and now apparently it is no longer produced. If they know of anywhere where there are some stocks remaining I would be very interested!!

My favourite white wine was Thisbe, very nice cold.

They also used to give your crisps to get you to drink more. After the tour you went into a large room with long tables and they put out a selection of beers and wines and you helped yourselves.

Nearly everyone bought at least one bottle.

Best Hotel in Protaras ?

Hi , what do people think is the best , poshest , money no object , hotel in Protaras ? We are thinking of either the Capo Bay or Sunrise Beach ?

We are trying to make a decision with regard a wedding location.
