Mobility Problems

We%26#39;re coming to Cyprus for the first time in two weeks and staying at the Ascos Beach Hotel. My wife has mobility problems and can%26#39;t walk far but would like to see the area, especially Paphos town. Apart from hiring a car, are there any guided tours by vehicle does anyone know please.

Thanks.

Hi, I also have mobility problems and can%26#39;t walk far so mainly rely on a wheelchair for any distance. Myself and my husband have visited Paphos for the past three years and are returning again in June. Your wife will not find it difficult for getting about in Paphos as the paths are very smooth and even especially in the harbour area. The hotel we stay in is about a 20 minute walk from the harbour and is very pleasant. We always walk it with the wheelchair as it is very pleasant, although there are frequent buses again which you can access easily. When we have done trips before eg Nicosia, Limassol etc we have just booked up with one of the agents as you walk up to the harbour. It is much cheaper to do this than book through a tour operator. I hope this puts your mind at rest and if you think of anything else just ask.

I%26#39;ve seen some elder tourists riding some %26#39;motorised wheelchairs%26#39;. I don%26#39;t even know if they are called like this, but it is the first thing came to my mind.

The motor wheelchairs had signs on them that indicated they were rented. So this could be a good solution.

Thank you for all your information. I think we%26#39;ve found a company on the internet in Paphos who rent out motorised scooters so I%26#39;ll pay them a visit when we get there. My wife is delighted to think she%26#39;ll be able to see the area.

Thanks again.

Is your hotel the Ascos Coral Beach at Coral Bay? If so this is some way (20 min drive)from Paphos although there is a good bus service. One note of caution about the pavements in Coral Bay. Having been three times with pushchairs in tow!!!! the kerbs can be very high in places and even the ramps from the pavements a bit steep at times. Children nearly ended up on their heads!!! Also if you will be walking back at night, a torch is a good idea as the streetlighting isn%26#39;t always so good in some areas!

Thank you very much for the info. That puts us aware of the situation so we know what to expect.

Looking forward to some sunshine.
