Going to Protaras in june for 2 weeks s/c and would like to know where a supermarket/hypermarket is so l can go on my first day there to do a good shop so l will not need to go again during my holiday. l heard there was a good supermarket a few miles away not sure where abouts but would be good if someone could helpme out here on where it is and how to get there on bus and how much, and how much it would cost in a taxi.l may be wrong but the supermarket could be in famagusta.....

Where abouts in Protaras are you staying? The large supermarket you are thinking about is Orphanides near Paralimni. There are regular buses which will take you about 20 minutes but unless you are hiring a car a taxi might be a better option if you are doing a big shop. Taxi would possibly cost you 20 euros return.

Hi Kath,l think thats the one l%26#39;m on about.
l%26#39;m staying at the sweet memories apartments , is there a bus/stop going there which l can catch. How far away is it and how much on a bus, and finally is the supermarket prices a lot less than shops in protaras...... Thanks

Yes, there are regular buses but be aware when it comes to timing they run on cotton reels! Supposed to run every half hour. Price last year was 1.30 euro wherever you travelled. Will take you about 25 minutes on the bus. Prices are much cheaper at Orphanides than in Protaras although there is a very nice bakery on the main road in Protaras which does lovely fresh bread, meat %26amp; salads. Having a change myself this year and doing more self catering so will be using Orphanides myself. There are other supermarkets in Paralimni itself but it is going to be hot the first two weeks in June so as you may well want to get the shopping over and done with I%26#39;d hop off the bus at Orphanides (check with driver what time bus returns so you can plan your return) Have a good time.

Kath is the supermarket in Paralimni or past it. How will l know when to get off the bus or do the drivers speak english.

Supermarket is before you get to Paralimni - you can%26#39;t miss it. Huge building. Its on the left hand side of the road and the bus drops off there - anyone on the bus will help you. Just tell the driver when you get on you want to get off at Orphanides

Ive been on the bus a few times, and struggled and carried loads especially water, last time we were in protaras we hired a car for a few days it was much easier
