Where would you avise

Hello would love to go to Cyprus this summer for a two week holiday, but we cant choose what resort to go to,or what hotel/apts we like to go self catering. We are a married couple of 50 and have a daughter of 9 coming with us, we like going on nice walks, tours, and like going out at night to some live music and nice food,so would appricate any good advice please.

You will like either Protaras or Paphos.

If you choose Paphos, then there are lots of self catering apartmetns available along the tombs of the kings road. Restaurants, pubs and shops are abundant along that road strip.

you can have lots of walks along the beach. there are tours, also plentiful, going to Troodos moutnains, the akamas national park, the avakas gorge and you can go for walks/gentle strolls around the archeological ruins of Paphos by the harbour and the Tombs of the Kings excavation site.

There are many good restaurants here widely recommended. There are also very good cypriot taverns around town and in villages. Just click on Restaurants on the left panel %26lt;--- and you will see what are recommended.

Thank you for advise, trying to choose Protaras or Pophos which would have night life to suit our age group and things to see and do and a nice beach. We are thinking of hireing a car as well, but the main thing at the moment is where to go to stay.

I picked up on the fact that you say you like nice walks. If you mean tromping around during the day then I wonder whether Cyprus in the height of summer is the place for you. It gets extremely hot and very humid in July and August and really isn%26#39;t the weather for walking anywhere, particularly with children.

I love Cyprus but would really only recommend it in the height of summer to people who plan to do nothing but lie by the swimming pool.

Thank you when i say we like going for walks my husband likes to go for a walk early in the mornings and we usualy go for a walk in the evening maybe along a prom or along the beach but that would be evening time.We do like the heat but no wouldnt be looking to go for day time walks in the heat. Thinking of going late June or early July But which city is the big question and I want to try and get it booked soon.

Oh well there%26#39;s nothing to worry about then regarding the heat.

If you like an evening stroll down the promenade then I would say that Paphos would be ideal for you. They have just given their promenade a facelift and it is very pleasant indeed.

I haven%26#39;t stayed in tour operator accommodation for years as I much prefer to stay in privately owned apartments/villas that are pretty much a home from home. I stayed in a beautiful apartment last year on the Tombs of the Kings Road that I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate to recommend if you are interested.

The Kefalos Apartments rate very highly on TripAdvisor (I think they are in the number one spot at the moment). The apartments at the Avanti are in a very good position for strolling into Kato Paphos in the evening. Both of these feature in the tour operator brochures.

I always come in on these questions and plump for Limassol.

For one reason it is not a tourist resort. So you have a good mix of everything but it still maintains it%26#39;s Cypriot culture. It has the longest promenade in Cyprus, ok beaches if a little small, largest range of eateries on the island, good shopping and a good comopolitan feel. There is a tourist area but it is detatched from the main older area of Limassol, some of the best hotels on the island and a good range of meduim and budget ranges.

Limassol aswell is cheaper than the main resorts, so your Euro goes further. Gateway also to the quieter areas of Troodos, lovely villages, wine area of Kouris Valley and some of the best food on the island.
