toilets

hi, another question for you, what are the toilets like in cyprus.are they the same as england or do you hve to put the toilet paper in the bin like you have to do in corfu.doesnt bother me too much ,im just curious as all the kids kept forgetting t do it last time thanx

Toilets exactly the same as the ones in England.

In new or newer buildings, can be thrown into the loos.

Older buildings such as tavernas, will have to check. You can easily spot signs asking people to use the bins.

thanx

there is a mass expansion of the drains here in cyprus even the big hotels ask you to put the paper into the bins

Our drains are just about laid, thats fine but the network system to the sewage plant has not been started, some area%26#39;s are forward then others but again the system is not yrt complete

sorry

Depends where you stay. The hotels we stay in do not expect you to put paper in a bin you simply flush as in England. As has been said in older buildings such as some tavernas and apartments you do have to put the paper in the bin.

ah we are staying at the papantonia.they look pretty modernso we will wait and see.its not a problem just curious

Hi

You do still have to be careful we live in a new build and we have had blocked pipes twice since January although the pipes are bigger they are not smooth like the uk but it is a lot better than it was.

I live in a 360 year old house the drains are forty years old leading to a septic tank. We flush ! this comes up quiet alot in Cyprus and I see signs even in newer hotels to use bins. I suspect these hotels are still on septic and they have to pay to have them emptied, you can draw your own conclusions.

I%26#39;ve been (no pun intended) in several hotels, bars, restaurants, café%26#39;s and other buildings and haven%26#39;t seen a single one that didn%26#39;t have a bin for the paper.

As it has been pointed out, its not the toilet itself that is the problem its the way the sewerage is dealt with at the other end (filters get blocked, things back up etc)....

There a very few establishments in Cyprus that cannot deal with toilet paper. 10 years ago maybe, but things have moved on, some habits die hard and septic tanks fill up quicker if paper is flushed and it costs to have them emptied.

Binned paper ends up in communal tips around the island, when the wind blows the paper moves, enough said I think.
