It is very annoying that travel agents continue to market hotels in Pernera as Protaras and very confusing. Pernera is a suburb of Protaras which is approximately a 20 minute walk away. A lovely new coastal path has been built making the walk into Protaras very easy now and your mum will enjoy that. There is a fabulous little cafe along the coastal route called Zafiros - try it one day for breakfast. Lots of restaurants and bars in Pernera, beach is only minutes away from the Papantonia. The water park is small but suitable but there is a much better one at Ayia Napa which you can easily reach by local bus (it is the last stop on the bus). Buses are very cheap - one set price. Taxis can be expensive. There are shops in Pernera and Protaras but to be honest its mainly tourist %26#39;tat%26#39;. Better to go into Paralimni by bus if you want to shop. Everywhere will be open although mid May will be fairly quiet. By the 17th May the weather should have settled into nice long hot summer days. I am looking forward to being there at end of May. Have a lovely holiday but if you want any more information just ask or PM me.
