Just a reminder below of some threads with the cost of things you are asking about.

Maybe someone will post the cost of sunbeds and parasols when the sunbathing season starts.

%26quot;so come on some of the local experts go out and do some real legwork and let everyone know how much things are%26quot;

Just in case anyone isn%26#39;t aware, the TripAdvisor Destination Experts are all volunteers. They don%26#39;t get paid for the advice they give on these boards. What%26#39;s more, they don%26#39;t usually even get a %26quot;please%26quot; or %26quot;thank you%26quot; for the advice they give on these boards.

I do hope that when you come back from your trip you will post the prices yourself.

Karen i would hardly call you a local seeing how your in lanks,

I was on about the real locals who could walk to these places and tell u about what they are seeing in bars and resturants.

And yes I will be posting when I get back about all aspects of my visit including golf which there is not much information, The reason I use this forum is because people do like to help and offer good advice, and invariable people do not say thankyou because of human nature they are in thier living room talking to sort of friends on the computer so please dont take things the wrong way as we dont mean not to say thankyou so for all the future advice Ray MWAH xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Well said Karen, am just wondering who the hell he is or was it a toungue in cheek remark. If he thinks us D.E.%26#39;s have nothing better to do then do the donkey work for him he is either disillusionalon or in need of medical care to think we are here to do the legwork for them.

We are here to give advice that we have accumulated over many years, we are definately not Travel Operators.

( personally i couldnt really care because im on holiday and i can pretend to be rich for two weeks before going home and starting all over again) IF thats the case why is he asking for the costs, I personally I couldn%26#39;t care if he comes on holiday to Cyprus anyway

Kev

Do you notice I put my name on here as well

Maybe we need to agree to disagree on the manners thing Hairy. I was brought up to say %26quot;please%26quot; when I want and %26quot;thank you%26quot; when I get. That is fundamental and doesn%26#39;t change, regardless of the circumstances, situation or people involved.

Have a lovely holiday being a ten-bob millionnaire for the fortnight - I will be doing it myself this summer too.

Moooowaaaaahhhh to you x x x

Leg work, you are having a laugh. Get yourself out here and report back, I doubt very much you would come up with a across the board final pricing.

If you post enough you will be afforded the honour of been tagged %26#39; Local Expert%26#39; wherever you hail from.

I am local, Cypriot with links to the UK. No matter how hard I try I could not give you an answer to your question. If you are in Paphos you will pay a tourist price, if you come to our village it will be 50% cheaper. It all depends on season, type of establishment, wether the owner is doing well. So many factors so many pricing variations.

As for not caring less, why ask ? or are you rubbing peoples noses in it because you are rich for two weeks !!

if you dont care why are you posting this

if i lived in cyprus i would not help you with the manner you have ,try asking nice as i have afew times and the answers come flooding in .

As Leica has said because we post on a regular basis we are given the somewhat confusing title of %26quot;Expert%26quot; which we certainly don%26#39;t profess to be. We are ordinary people, one or two live in Cyprus but others have travelled extensively to various parts of Cyprus and are here to basically help other people travelling to the island and hopefully point them in the right direction so they can enjoy the island as much as we do and avoid any pitfalls we may have experienced. What you have listed Hairy will vary from wherever you decide to eat - local villages obviously being much cheaper but you then have to balance that with the cost of car hire/taxi to get there. As a rough guide I paid between 2.95 (at a local kiosk) %26amp; 4 euros (at our apartments) for a full breakfast last year, this year I note from the brochure it will be 6 euros in our apartments. Rum/brandy/vodka/gin/whisky -so much variation in measures and price it would be difficult to be accurate - all depends on the bar you are drinking in and how friendly you become with your barman! A litre of Absolut vodka last year was 7.50 euros on the way in at the airport - can%26#39;t beat that and obviously to buy all spirits at the local offie is much cheaper! Local brandy (Keo) is very reasonable - about 5 euros a bottle last year. What really pushes the cost of your drinks up are the mixers. Coffee - 1.50 euro last year. Lunch - toasted sandwich %26amp; chips last year 3 to 4.50 euros Evening meal - the skies the limit - anything from 8.50 euro set meal upwards - around the harbour or any major tourist attraction expect to pay for it. Sunbeds %26amp; parasols - last year 2 euros per sunbed and 1 euro for parasol. Heaven knows what the prices will be this year, we can only report back when we have been and seen for ourselves.

Karen will understand when I say I am looking forward to the challenge on a budget!!!

Hiya Hairyhamster,

I see you are getting some stick - not surprising by the tone of your post.

Most of the regular posters on this forum, and I presume on all the other destinations have a fondness to that destination and take any critism of %26quot;their favourite%26quot; destination as personal.

As for prices, it depends on where and when.

Buy a meal by the Harbour, it will tend to be dearer and of less quality than a local taverna frequented by locals, but you may not have the view and ambience you require as a tourist.

Last year you could buy and English breakfast for £2.

The weak sterling has increased prices but you have to be sensible if you are on a budget. If money is no object, even though I love Cyprus, why are you not in the Maldives???

Wherever you choose to holiay this year, if money is tight, shop around, keep away from busy tourist areas and ask watch where the locals go.

Good luck and just enjoy it.

Regards

Stewart

Kath, I%26#39;ve been accused several times of being some kind of imposter because I don%26#39;t live in Cyprus.

Leica is very right in pointing out that his experiences as a resident will be very different to the experiences of a tourist. I think we are all aware that there are tourist/resident, summer/winter and resort/village prices.

As you say though, Tripadvisor DEs are just regular Joes who have visited Cyprus many times as tourists and base our findings on what we encounter as tourists. After all, TA was set up to provide advice to people just like you and I who are planning their holiday to Cyprus.

If I share my experiences of the regular %26quot;tourist%26quot; things with others such as hiring cars, eating in restaurants, the best beaches to lie on, the areas to avoid and the ones to make a beeline for then maybe my contributions will be beneficial to someone.
