scooters in paphos area

We are going in July with a 17 %26amp; 18 year old . Are the roads ok to consider scooter hire. 3 out of 4 are drivers

On the main roads Yes but the side roads thats another story as there is a big major overhaul of drains being layed. Around the harbour, Tomb of the kings and the triangle are all fine

You%26#39;ll be fine as long as everyone wear a helmet.

|||

You MUST wear a helmet. You are all much safer in cars than in a scooter! I fell off once, and I was a passenger! No car involved either!

|||

I wouldn%26#39;t! It%26#39;s challenging enough driving around Paphos in a car.

Happy travels!

I have a big problem with scooters in Cyprus. There are so many accidents throughout the year but expecially in the tourist season. We are not the best drivers in the world and scooters are rarely seen until it is too late.

If you do wish to hire a scooter, check it%26#39;s road worthyness, wear a proper helmet (kitemarked) and rememmber if you do come off shorts and T-shirts offer no protection from Cypriot roads.

Sorry to put a downer on your enjoyment, but I see far too many accidents.

Your mum would probably have a fit if she knew you were on a scooter in Cyprus! I am not saying you are not responsible but believe me there are loads of idiots out there (mainly tourists) who think they know what they are doing. You see so many riding about in flimsy shorts and T shirts. Not much fun if you come off and have sores and grazes for the holiday! Scooters can be dangerous - the main roads are OK but side tracks and off road don%26#39;t even think of taking a scooter there. If you must hire it is essential you wear a helmet (illegal not to and you will be fined) and stick to the speed limit otherwise again you will get an on the spot fine. The Cypriot police do not like speeding tourists. Sorry to sound like a spoilspoit but please make sure you read the small print on the insurance before you sign anything. If there is damage to the scooter you could find yourself responsible for the cost of repairs and for loss of income to the owner whilst the scooter is out of action. Above all drive safely and have a good holiday.
