Pelicans on Nissi Beach Ayia Napa

We have just returned from a week in Protaras and was informed that the pelicans of Nissi beach have all been killed apart from 2 that are kept in a cage at the Nissi Beach Hotel, it alledges that the rest were killed for Health %26amp; Safety reasons as they attacked someone ?????

Can anyone enlighten me please

Thanks

I have NOT heard anything about this....

I can assure that we do not make it a habit, killing pelicans whenever deemed necessary.

In Paphos, we always have two pelicans. They are mates. They should be here in May. They never bother us and are always famous with the tourists.

Can someone from Ayia Napa confirm something about this? This is highly unacceptable.

I have been to Nissi Hotel for the last 3 yrs and in that time I have only seen the 2. Where you informed why they were killed?

We were told about the Pelicans by 2 other guests that were staying at the same hotel in Protaras.

They said that the 2 Pelicans are actually in cages on Ayia Napa beach/harbour, they actually showed us photographs of the 2 Pelicans in cages on their camera and both are youngsters with one having a damaged beak, they were told that all the rest had been killed but that may be just hearsay, thus the reason for my original posting.
