We are going to Paphos in July for the first time. We want to do some excursions, particularly one into the mountains. Are there local agents in Paphos who do these trips cheaper than the tour operator [in our case Thomas Cook]?

Yes, you%26#39;ll find lots of trips and tours on offer all around Paphos. I suspect they%26#39;ll be better value than what you%26#39;ll be pressurised into at your %26quot;welcome meeting%26quot;.

You dont say where you are staying but pretty much any direction you walk towards the harbour you will see travel agencies with boards outside advertising their excursions. One of the better ones seems to be the Troodos mountains in a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The Roman mosaics in the harbour area itself is one you can do yourselves- try and avoid the the many buses which arrive from other parts of the island - i.e. go early or late !

I don%26#39;t know if you have considered car hire? The roads are ok and they drive on the same side as us. I quite happily drive in Cyprus but not in other countries where they drive on the other side. You can get three day hire on a car quite reaonably. Also it%26#39;s quite easy to find your way around and someone on here would happily suggest a route and dorections if you have any specific plans.
