Hi Ste

It was a cold blustery day in Paphos on the 15th April and due to the fact that it was very short notice (i.e arrange confirmation from the Paphos Town Hall, harbour Authority and asking Fr John the Catholic Priest to attend the service)It was a massive turnout of 150 people turned out. Also in attendance was Sport in the City magazine, Grapevine, Paphos News, Cyprus mail, we had coverage of Rock FM and we also had coverage in the Liverpool Echo.

Myself and 2 other guy%26#39;s started the Paphos Branch of the LFC supporters back in 2007 and to think that the Official branch in Cyprus is Nicosia / Larnaca they only had 30 attending,at heir service (you know what they say, if you want something done get a scouser to do it)

The day was tremendous Man U, Newcastle, West ham, Portsmouth and Arsenal supporters attended and the Man U fan went onto the CyprusLiving website and said this Quote %26#39;%26#39; Cheers Kev and well done for organizing it at short notice.

I thought the afternoon went well and was handled with the dignity it deserved.

I would also like to thank your fellow Liverpool supporters for making a Man Utd fan feel welcome in your presence on a day of remembrance of such a tragic day in football history.%26#39;%26#39;

Just shows you how the true football supporters rallie round. The day started at 1600 Hrs and I piped them right through the harbour, Fr John gave everyone candles and we preyed for our lost brothers and sisters, I was supprised to hear that there were so many who attended over here who were related to those that died. The sky turned black with heavy thunderous clouds but as we had the 2 min silence at 1706 hrs the sky opened up and the sun shone. The service ended with 96 Red Rose petals scattered to the wind and a wreath with the words LFC 96 was placed on the rocks, I played YNWA on the pipes. At the end people then went home but the majority all went back to a bar called the First and Last and the owners laid on sandwiched and chips. We watched the service at Anfield on Sky.

I have also been informed that Paphos is twinned with Sefton Council, Liverpool and my mate always went to the away matches with a guy who is now the Lord Mayor of Liverpool (Councilor Rotherham)We plan to elect a permanent Memorial stone to the 96 and get Liverpool and Sefton council involved.

I have not been able to download the tune or get hold of it but I have asked my lad to get me a copy as he is still living in God%26#39;s Little Acre

Well done Kev. Keep the memory alive - those poor souls deserve it. Hopefully now we will get to the bottom of exactly what happened on that fateful day -the grieving mums dads and families deserve to know.

Yes Kath

Heads will roll, does not matter whether it be another 10, 20, 30 years the truth will come out because we will remember and carry the fight on.

If the truth did come out which I hardly think it will I believe the whole establishment will fall and they cannot allow that to happen
